Early Years Tour – Musical Storyland

Join international storyteller Jan Blake, djembe player Mohamed Gueye and musicians of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra for an interactive performance of Ananse and the Monkeys for pre-schoolers.

Ananse needs some money to buy food so decides to make some hats to sell, but on his way to the market, some monkeys steal them! Can Ananse outwit the monkeys and get his precious hats back?

Jan Blake specialises in folktales and myths from the Caribbean, West Africa, North Africa, and the Arab regions.

Music is written by Daniel Whibley.

This tour is visiting schools in Whitby, Catterick, Richmond, Settle and Pickering in Spring 2026.
